of only four conductors. It was designed to link your external devices , such as a telephone, mouse, modem, joystick, audio,
printer, scanner, external CD ROM or hard disk drive etc., Up to 127 nodes can be linked to a single bus configuration.
USB is a new user friendly access external bus which simplifies the cable set up and configuration of your PC and communication
system. A full rated cable can be operated up to 12Mbs signaling. This is the next generation of coniectivity for future computers

The Universal Serial (USB), brings plug-and-play technology to the external input and output devices found on todays high

Connectors:
USB specifies two types of connectors (series A and series B) in order to protect the bus from improper hookup
(e.g., connection one downstream port back to another, etc.) and to prevent end-user confusion. Upstream connectors
are Series A (i.e., on USB hubs) while downstream connectors are Series B. This allows end users to easily attach the
correct connectors to peripherals and ports.
USB Connectors:
Series A plugs and receptacles are used for those devices on which the external
cable is permanently attached to devices such as keyboard, mouse, or hub.
Series B Plugs and receptacles are used for those devices that require an external
detachable cable such as printers, scanners or modems.

Cable Requirements:
Standard USB cable: one pair of 20-28 AWG wire for power distribution
(low or full speed) and one pair of 28 AWG wire twisted with a shield
and overall jacket (full speed) for signal distribution.

B. Non Twist - One pair per standard selected as needed for proper DC
power distribution.
C. Shield: Required for EMI/RFI compliance. Suggest aluminum/mylar
wrap with a 28 AWG drain wire and 65% min. coverage tinned copepr
braid with a 100% foil shield.
